Immigration

Most immigration matters are handled on a fixed-fee basis, with hourly charging for complex cases. Our typical fee ranges are:

For a typical application, our service includes:

• Taking your instructions and advising on your eligibility;
• Assessing the documents required to support your application;
• Preparing the legal representations and your supporting statement;
• Preparing and checking the application bundle;
• Preparing and submitting the application; and
• Handling the necessary correspondence with the Home Office.

Typical timescales: we are usually ready to submit within 1–2 weeks of receiving your documents; the Home Office then typically takes 3–6 months to decide, depending on the route. The exact fee depends on the type and complexity of the application and is confirmed in writing before we begin.

Commercial lease matters

Commercial lease matters are handled on a fixed-fee or hourly basis. The average fee is £1,500 – £4,000 plus disbursements, with most matters completed within 6–8 weeks of instruction. This typically covers reviewing the lease, raising and answering enquiries, carrying out searches, negotiating terms, exchange and completion, dealing with Stamp Duty Land Tax where payable, and registration at the Land Registry.

Personal injury

The majority of our personal injury claims are handled on a no win, no fee basis under a Conditional Fee Agreement — there is nothing to pay up front, and if your claim does not succeed you will not pay our charges. If your claim succeeds, a success fee may be deducted from your compensation, capped in line with the rules for your type of claim. We explain any deductions clearly before you sign.

Landlord & tenant

Many residential landlord and tenant matters — such as drafting and serving a Section 8 or Section 21 notice — are offered on a fixed-fee basis. More complex matters, such as contested possession proceedings or disrepair claims, are charged hourly at the rates above, and we always give a realistic estimate of the overall cost before proceeding.

Disbursements

Disbursements are costs payable to third parties in addition to our fees — for example court or tribunal fees, Home Office application fees and the Immigration Health Surcharge (usually paid by you directly to the Home Office), medical or expert reports, counsel's fees, and interpreter fees. We will tell you about any disbursements that apply to your matter so there are no surprises.

VAT

Where VAT is chargeable it is added to our fees at the prevailing rate (currently 20%). Some immigration applications may be exempt depending on your circumstances. Your client care letter makes clear which amounts include VAT.

What affects the cost of my matter?

The overall cost depends on the complexity of the issues, the volume of documents, whether court or tribunal proceedings are required, how quickly matters are resolved, and the grade of fee earner needed. We keep you informed throughout and will tell you promptly if an estimate is likely to be exceeded.
